You have built your foundation. Our conversation starts with your professional standing, client-care approach and goals for your practice.

Explore your fit

Five standards for a meaningful conversation

These are InsuranceVilla’s proposed screening standards for experienced agents. They provide a simple starting point; formal eligibility and contracting requirements are confirmed individually.

01 · PROFESSIONAL STANDING

Licensed and transparent

Hold an active insurance licence for the work and province you intend to serve. Be ready to discuss your licence status, any restrictions and your current professional arrangements.

02 · CLIENT-FIRST ADVICE

Understand needs before recommending

Listen carefully, assess protection needs, explain suitable options and document why a recommendation fits. Put client interests at the centre of the relationship.

03 · RESPONSIBLE PRACTICE

Keep your professional house in order

Be prepared to review applicable insurance coverage, continuing education, disclosures, privacy practices and client records as part of onboarding. Raise unresolved issues openly.

04 · SERVICE & FOLLOW-THROUGH

Show how you care for clients

Bring examples of reliable follow-up, policy reviews and clear communication. A strong practice is built on ongoing service as well as new business.

05 · GROWTH & COLLABORATION

Have a direction—and stay coachable

Know whom you want to serve and how you intend to develop relationships. Be willing to learn, share ideas and collaborate with qualified professionals when clients need expertise beyond your scope.

A SIMPLE START

Character. Competence. Consistency.

Come ready to discuss your experience, client-service strengths and next-stage goals. Any production expectations, compensation terms or practice-transition arrangements should be reviewed before you commit.

Evaluate your practice

Choose the areas you want to strengthen. This private checklist is a conversation guide, not a pass/fail test. Your selections remain on this page and are not submitted.

The value clients feel

Beyond products, what do clients experience when they work with you?

The work your practice supports

Provide services within your licence and competence. Coordinate investment, mortgage, legal, accounting and tax matters with appropriately qualified professionals.

What would help you serve clients better?

Identify your priorities: training, case support, marketing, technology, compliance guidance or succession planning. Ask which resources are available, who provides them and what terms apply.

What to bring to the first conversation

  • Your licence type, status and provinces served.
  • A brief summary of your experience and target clientele.
  • Your current business arrangements and any transition considerations.
  • Two or three goals for improving your practice.

Begin with a professional overview. Do not send client-identifying records or confidential client files with your initial inquiry.
